Saying Goodbye

Have you ever heard the saying, "You never know what you got until it's gone?" Of course you have. Well I'm here to tell you that whoever came up with that saying may have been on to something.

Today, the 26th of August is the last day I will spend here in my hometown for a while. All of the cardboard boxes I see piled up indicate new beginnings while the things that don't make it into those boxes are left behind.

The hardest moments so far this past week have been leaving my home church and youth group behind. I know that I will make new Christian friends at college and find a church to attend up there but there's nothing quite like the feeling of being at your home church.
I am the type of person who suppresses stress until it absolutely has to be let out. I acknowledge that I'm stressing about school and leaving people behind and not being able to see friends or family for maybe months at a time but until there is a trigger, such as saying goodbye, I will avoid thinking about it.
My best friend reassured me that, "To be truly successful in life, people have to take a few big steps and one of those may include leaving the ones closest to you behind for a while." I am excited at the same time to be continuing my college education at a 4-year school. I am also excited to get married next summer and have my husband join me at college next fall. But even before that I need to patiently wait for his return in December, just in time for Christmas.

Well, it's about time for me to sign off for now and get packin' for my next big transition in life.
Thanks for reading along.
Until next time!
